CP PTO Grade 2-5 Q&A - Shared screen with speaker view
Danny Freund

The current model affords hybrid learners 2 hours more of synchronous learning EACH WEEK. Is anything being done to close this gap?
Bryce Wilson
32:00
Question that I meant to send prior but did not - Is there some type of tracker that will provide parents with updates on the last positive that was reported and the grade that it happened? Something that will allow us to understand and see if things are increasing or decreasing
Katharine MacLennan
34:51
Can you describe in any more available detail how the joining live classes via Zoom for remote students will work? Will they have a view of the whole class, just the teacher?
Vanessa Hradsky
36:40
Could you explain what school/classrooms will look like for kids so we can help prepare them before they go back to school? You mentioned masks, plexiglass, etc. Will kids be separated by plexiglass from one another?
Eunice Wong
40:10
Just to confirm — the cohort C students will be taught by the same teachers as Cohorts A/B?
Georgette Stern
41:01
Yes Eunice. They will remain with the same homeroom teacher as the A/B students
Eunice Wong
41:22
Thanks!
Danny Freund
42:09
Dineen - It would helpful if all of the teachers would share the class rosters with parents so parents would know which students are in each cohort. Can you encourage this?
jennifer Henderson
44:35
During the hybrid in-person sessions for the cohorts, will the children be able to bring snack? I know lunch will not be served during this time but will there be opportunity for the kids to eat a small snack at their desks?
Nicole Pezold Hancock
45:19
Yes, thank, Jen. Students should bring snack and a water bottle on the days they’re in person at CP
jennifer Henderson
45:32
Thanks, Nicole!

Given the success of children (K-12) safely returning to the classroom across the country, in both public and private schools, has there been any thought or discussion as to when the children could return full time?
Helen Rose
48:43
What is the plan to increase amount of time at school if things go well as we move forward?
Nicole Pezold Hancock
50:26
Vanessa and everyone, here is an orientation video to share with your child before they return to CP for in person learning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWOdlfXAX_0&feature=youtu.be. It shows how the school and classrooms have been changed to accommodate social distancing requirements. There will be plexiglass dividers at the children’s tables.
Vanessa Hradsky
50:51
Thank you, Nicole!
Jeffrey Oakman - CP parent
52:50
Are you going to be making changes to the classes/cohorts if there are imbalances now between classes in a grade that are in person?
Bryce Wilson
53:40
Is there a link to the document that can be provided here?
Georgette Stern
54:18
Which document are you looking for? Daily health screening or safety protocol?
Helen Rose
54:42
I haven't received the emergency contact form. Where can we find that?
Bryce Wilson
54:59
the one that is being referenced to be on her desk
Vanessa Hradsky
55:18
Hi Bryce, I believe it’s https://www.princetonk12.org/resources-and-notices/health-protocols-2020-2021
Yue-Kai Huang
55:20
How to update emergency contact on Power School? It said it is there but we can't find the forms there.
Bryce Wilson
55:24
thank you
Georgette Stern
57:01
@Yue-Kai Huang, I found it this morning, let me see after this if I can find it again and I’ll email you

Thank you Georgette

Is there consideration to cancel the DLI program since it is not being ran per protocol, i.e, not enough exposure to spanish, not enough spanish speakers in class etc? Seems like the kids may be struggling with DLI due to lack of exposure to spanish. Thanks.
jennifer Henderson
01:05:15
Second grade has been awesome, too!
Eunice Wong
01:05:28
And fourth grade Spanish has been terrific!
E.H. Zacharias
01:06:20
kindergarten and second grade Spanish have been great!

01:08:03
I was impressed to hear my son recording in Spanish. So 3rd grade is also working hard to keep Spanish going.

01:08:11
typo... no need to cancel ever!
Helen Rose
01:08:16
Have we surveyed the traditional kids to see if they want Spanish several days a week?
Dena Hoffman
01:08:43
Dineen mentioned that the district is looking at new technology/apps to address challenges being faced with instruction. Can you share what the challenges are you have identified so we can better understand what is being actively addressed/looked into?
jennifer Henderson
01:08:52
Will the 2-5 grades get new Chromebooks? The current refurbished ones do not function as well as the other new devices provided by the District in other grades
jennifer Henderson
01:09:37
Age of devices being used (i.e. age of processors) is a huge issue with the functioning of Zoom for classess
Nicole Pezold Hancock
01:09:43
Helen—I don’t believe there’s been a survey. We can check and follow up on this issue.
Esme Haeberli
01:13:18
It seems “time in class” during specials is often “shortened” (kids are being let out early). How can this be addressed?
Danny Freund
01:13:50
Reading A-Z is a terrific resource! Thank you for making this available to our kids.
Scott Ross
01:14:38
Gotta jump. Thanks for all of the updates! Dineen, you and your dedicated staff have been dealt a very difficult hand through no fault of your own and we appreciate the herculean efforts to make it work as well as possible under the circumstances.
Nicole Pezold Hancock
01:14:49
Re new devices: The new chromebooks that were promised were ordered over the summer but have been delayed, as Principal Gruchacz mentioned, because so many districts ordered all at once. The PTO can ask for an update on their eta.
Remona Gopaul
01:16:21
Is there an opportunity to hire a health teacher?
Judson Odell
